Meltem: Journal of the Izmir Mediterranean Academy, is an international peer-reviewed bilingual journal to be published biannually in Turkish and English. The journal welcomes theoretical and research articles as well as social, artistic, philosophical, contemporary political reviews and essays that reflect the subjective viewpoints of the author.

Each issue will also give place to reviews of books and theses relating to Izmir and the field of Mediterranean studies produced in different branches of social sciences.

Articles in the following four areas can be submitted in accordance with the sections of the journal:

I. Theory

Articles that engage in theoretical debates, critiques, and reviews.

II. Research

Research articles and surveys pertaining to the Mediterranean and Izmir.

III. Contemporary

Contemporary political, artistic, philosophical essays, works, and interviews.

IV. Alesta

This section includes reviews of exemplary theses and publications. It is designed to inform readers about the academic works and publications on the Mediterranean and Izmir. It also aims to create an archive of the Mediterranean and Izmir studies.
